Photo: 20yr old girl arrested by Cross River State police for selling her 2 week old baby for N20k

Maria Ekanem sold her two week old baby to an Abuja-based woman for N20,000. According to a report by Vanguard, the 20-year-old school drop out from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, was arrested by the police along with her accomplices. 
 
Her boyfriend got her pregnant and asked her to abort the baby. However, a doctor agreed to help her with free antenatal care and food and in exchange she agreed to sell her baby after delivery.

Amaechi's confirmation: APC is engaging in a pretentious war against corruption - PDP

The PDP says that the confirmation of former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, has put a dent on APC's “pretentious war against corruption”. The National Publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh said this after an extraordinary meeting with top PDP officials in Abuja yesterday night.

While addressing newsmen after the meeting, Olisa commended PDP senators for staging a walkout before Amaechi's confirmation. "We salute the courage and unity of purpose of our Senators, especially as demonstrated in the Senate chambers today in their collective stand against impunity and corruption in line with the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians”.

Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has invited 23 players to the national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland next month. He has handed a recall to Seattle Sounders frontman Obafemi Martins after more than two years absence, with his last appearance in a Super Eagles shirt coming against Kenya in a World Cup qualifier in March 2013.

The Super Eagles will tackle Swaziland in the first leg on November 13, while  the return leg is at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt four days later.

Russian Ministry of Sport bans foreign managers from Russian football


A very interesting news came out of Russia on Thursday afternoon after it emerged that the Ministry of Sport had signed a document banning all foreign head coaches. Former Chelsea coach, Andre Villas-Boas who is Portuguese and manages Zenith St Petersburg was reportedly planning to leave at the end of the season but it’s unclear if his tenure will last that long now.

According to Eurosport, the bill was signed on September 21st and published on the official web portal of legal information on October 28th.

Appeal court to rule on Saraki's Code of Conduct tribunal case today

The appeal court will today rule on the suit filed by Bukola Saraki challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to try him on a 13 count of false asset declaration when he was governor of Kwara state. The court is expected to sit this morning.

Court of Appeal dismisses Saraki's appeal

The Abuja division of the court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal filed by senate president, Bukola Saraki challenging his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The appeal court dismissed all 5 issues raised by Saraki in the appeal. Two of the three panel of judges ruled that his appeal lacks merit. This implies that the Code of Conduct will still go ahead with Saraki's trial.

Saraki is being tried on a 13 count charge of false asset declaration when he was Kwara state governor. He is expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on November 5th.

Weeks after he was quoted as saying that former president Jonathan lacked the political will to fight corruption, notable Ijaw leader and a former Minister, Edwin Clarke has released a statement describing the media interpretation of his statement as wicked and sensationally presented. 

Clarke said what he meant was that the former President was willing to fight corruption but wanted it to be done according to laid down rules. He said contrary to stories being peddled, he never got any contract, oil block or anything whatsoever from Jonathan who many believed had a father-son relationship with him. N10m fraud: Court Convicts Man in absentia

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC yesterday secured the conviction of one Alhaji Uba Mohammed pictured above, on a two count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and fraud before Justice Salisu Garba of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, Abuja. The accused however has not been caught but was tried in absentia.

A statement by EFCC says Mohammed was alleged to have been entrusted with the authority to collect the rent of a property situated at Plot 1143 Asokoro District of the FCT, Abuja by Zaibadari Company Limited from the "Office of the Presidential Committee on Dairy Production" to the tune of N10m.

Dynamo Kiev stadium manager proposes 'black sector' for black fans in order to combat racism


See what someone is proposing in 2015. Volodimir Spilchenko, the director of Dynamo Kiev's (arguably Ukraine's biggest club) home ground, says that having black fans segregated from other supporters could prevent racism.
